Go Wait Outside, Broski.

Look, it's a lil' weird when girls' family members or partners just kinda sit around and hang out in the fucking strip club.  It just is.  TELL YOUR BROTHER TO GO HOME ALREADY, THIS DOESN'T FEEL GOOD FOR ANYONE.  I don't care if he's already paid admission, hasn't finished his drink, got dragged here by his friends, or reeeeally wants to look at boobs (not yours, of course [?] ), the ensuing awkwardness from seeing you all naked and sexified should outweigh any amount of money or implicit promise of other-stripper nudity.

Occasionally (rarely, though) I meet mother-daughter and sister-sister stripper-duos.  That is also a strange thing, y'all.  Chalk it up to sexual anxieties that I've yet to unpack, but I just can't imagine being able to perform sexuality in front of my mom or sister... and I'm really close to the women in my family, just not like that.  But I also acknowledge that multiple women in the same family taking up sex work together is as fuckin old as sex work itself and becomes more common as you descend into lower economic strata, so perhaps I'm just being judgmental and a big boujy about it.

Although I am still confused about how the fuck you can focus on working when your partner is sitting in some dark corner of the club with their arms crossed glaring at you while you boob-smother face after face or grind oldmandik after oldmandik.  Conversely, I get irrationally irritated when customers ask me "where's my boyfriend"- at work, you horny fool.  Or hiding in the shadows ready to biff you.  Or maybe I don't have a boyfriend.  Perhaps I have a girlfriend.

Whatever, it's just a way to find out whether or not I'm single, these guys aren't actually genuinely interested in any hypothetical-partner's work/leisure habits.  Alternate version of this question- "...so what does your boyfriend think about you stripping?"   I need to start coming up with sexier responses to this that don't actually dignify the question with a real response- something like "This conversation isn't getting me horny, let's talk about that girl's boobs over there!" or "I dunno bb, what does yer peeeniz think about me stripping for you?"

Acting dumb and sexy is actually really hard work.

Drank the Social Media Kool-Aid(s), In Spite of Myself

Twitter:

I'm new to all this isht and only have one subscriber on there so far.  Click dat button, Tweeterz.

Tumblr:

I am indeed not an "undressed ant", but a human-people compiling and co-editing an anthology tentatively called Undressed and Ungovernable, all radical perspectives on sex work written by current and former sex workers (including some interviews).

I figured fuck it, I'll give it a whirl.  I should at least make an appearance on as many platforms as possible to get the word out about this, post updates about the book's progress, etc.  Interspersed with political rants, fashion-lust, customer-gripes, and the odd money or personal hygiene issue, of course.

I'm Tempted to Opt for "Calfs".

My calves are sore, particularly the left one, and it hurts to walk.  I called out sick from work today (besides being regular-sick, as well).

I wonder if 4 years of dancing is finally having the promised deleterious effect on my body.

At least calling outta work gave me a chance to take my cat to the vet today; she's getting over a bladder infection and still has some "crystals" (wat) built up, so I've gotta feed her some special-kitty food so they don't form into tiny kitty-bladder-stones.  Everything seems less serious when you preface it with "kitty".

Oh my little cat, I only need you curled up on my chest to help ignore the atrophying of my most important physical commodities...

$1000+ Night!

Made $1700+ on Thursday off one guy who pretty much just wanted to drink bottle after bottle of champagne while dancing to house music with me.

$300 of it was champagne commission, $150 was from lapdances, and the rest came in a stack of hundreds.  The dude let me decide how much to pay the other girl (I gave her $500 since she kinda came over at the end of the night, and kept the rest).

I was seriously stunned by his generosity.

Ironically, I'd been chatting with a good friend over smoothies earlier that day about how my 3-days-a-week/$1000-a-week dancing goal was probably unrealistic. Funny how the universe delivers right about when you've decided to lower your expectations.

Submit to "Undressed and Ungovernable", an anthology of radical sex worker voices!

A friend/comrade and I are collecting submissions from radical current or former sex workers for our book Undressed and Ungovernable. Read on for details and submission guidelines!

Sex workers throughout the world experience a unique form of stigmatization based on their labor. Sex workers are socially admonished for their occupations, while simultaneously excluded from feminist and worker-organization discourses due to the social perception that theirs is not a valid form of labor, or even somehow a more degrading form of labor that is inherently harmful to society as a whole. This stigma silences sex workers, particularly those whose analyses of their positioning within capitalism run counter to mainstream conceptions of sex work. Predictably, these analyses and experiences become co-opted and redefined by others, often to the detriment of the workers themselves.

This collection aims to bring together sex worker voices to analyze, examine, and narrate a radical interpretation of the sex industry. We do welcome personal stories, but are particularly looking for pieces that combine both narrative and systematic analysis.

What do we mean by radical? Current or former sex workers are encouraged to submit their anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist, and anti-state writings on the sex industry; those of an anarchist, socialist, or communist bent are especially encouraged. We welcome perspectives that reject the casting of sex workers as perpetual victims with no agency by some feminist movements and mainstream society, social conservatives' demonization of sex workers, and liberal industry-apologists who refuse to turn a critical eye towards the social and labor conditions of sex workers (and capitalism as a whole).

We hope to mix narrative and analysis to provide a readable and accessible collection suitable for those both new to radicalism and sex worker perspectives.

We welcome all submissions from radical current or former sex workers, but here are a few topics we are particularly looking to cover:

-What is distinctive about the way in which sex workers experience labor alienation?
-How do sex workers experience identity through their labor?
-How does “owning” your means of production affect your status within capitalism?
-What are the best avenues for increasing safety, security, and satisfaction within the sex industry in capitalism? What possibilities and limitations do unions or cooperatives offer?
-Why is sex work so often considered the “worst” form of alienated labor?
-How does the state benefit from the continued social and legal marginalization of sex workers?
-Is sexuality special? Is the commodification of sex actually different than the commodification of other forms of labor?
-Does sex work uphold rape culture? How or how does it not?
-Being a sex worker and its effect on gender identity and/or sexual orientation.

Final contributions should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words. Please submit a 150-250 word abstract by April 5th 2013 along with a short bio to: undressedandungovernable@gmail.com
